| Everyone has a favorite weird name. Maybe it belongs to the girl who sat behind you in algebra, or your first boss. As a copy editor for a California newspaper, I come across a surprising number of charming names. Dewey Forget, for instance, or Chavelle Verbish. I've come to love names for their unique expression of character. Each one is different, yet linked like species to its family. Send me your best names and I'll add them to my list.

Dick Trickle and his pals

| Sure, I love names with funny sexual connotations. But this is the exploding cigar of the name world. Consider the far subtler nuance of Amber Grey, or Baskerville Holmes. These are my rules on adding to my names list 1) The name must be real 2) I don't like to make fun of someone else's culture, so I tend to stick with Anglocized names 3) Dick Trickle and Buster Hymen are OK, but I like nuance, too.
